A FEW FAQ's ANSWERED...
Q: Why are the 2008 awards being held in 2009?
A:
We wanted to give all the events taking place in 2008 a chance to be
involved in the event and it seemed the only sensible thing to do, it
worked last time, so where doing it again at the end of Jan/beginning
of Feb, and fingers crossed, it avoids clashing with any other events.
Q: What about the line-up?
A:
We wanted to do something a little different this year, so what better
than to have Grooverider playing his first South West set after his
trip to the Middle East that didn't quite go to plan a 18months ago. We
have also invested heavily in the Breaks side of things as they are
closely connected to the Dn'B scene. However, the event isn't about
having the same big names that pop up all the time, this night is all
about the South West scene and showing our respect to everyone involved
in it, hence trying to get as many resident DJs playing as possible.
This will be one of the very rare nights that most of the DJs, MC's and
promoters will all come together for one big party, and it's really
gonna go off, just make sure your part of it!
Q: When does voting close?
A: Voting closes at midnight on Saturday 31st January 2009.
Q: Can we get tickets on the door?
A: Yes, but it will be cheaper to get them in advance! Click on the Ticketweb logo at the top of the page to buy now.
Q: What area is the South West?
A:
For the purpose of these awards, we define the South West as Somerset,
Devon and Cornwall. In our eyes, at least for these awards, Bristol is
in the West!
Q: Why have you introduced a Breaks Category?
A:
Due to the demand last year, we wanted to grow the awards and the
breaks scene is closely linked to the Drum and Bass scene, so it makes
perfect sense. Awards will be presented at different times during the
event in both the Breaks room and the Drum and Bass room.
Q: Aren't the awards all fixed in advance so your mates win?
A:
No - we run a tight but fair voting system to ensure the awards are as
accurate as possible. Any dodgey or suspect votes are investigated and
removed if in doubt. All the votes placed and by whom along with the
final results are open to anyone to check if they so wish.
